After successfully finishing the program, you will receive the internationally recognized PADI Open Water Diver certification, accepted by dive centers worldwide. Who is this course for?
The PADI Open Water Diver course is designed for anyone who would like to learn how to scuba dive safely and earn an internationally recognized diving certification.To join the course you only need:
- to be at least 10 years old (participants aged 10–14 receive the PADI Junior OWD certification),
- to be in good general health,
- basic swimming ability and the confidence to stay afloat in the water
No previous scuba diving experience is required, and you do not need your own diving equipment.Before the course begins, every participant completes the standard PADI Medical Questionnaire. If any medical conditions are indicated, a doctor's approval confirming that you are fit to dive may be required.If you have never breathed underwater before, we recommend joining our Intro Diving program first. It is a great opportunity to become familiar with the equipment and discover whether scuba diving is the right activity for you.
How does the PADI Open Water Diver course work?
The course usually takes 3 days to complete. However, we never rush our students. Everyone learns at their own pace, and our instructor will spend as much time with you as necessary to ensure you feel comfortable and confident underwater.The course consists of three main parts:
During the course you will learn the fundamentals of safe scuba diving, become familiar with the diving equipment, master underwater communication, improve your buoyancy control, and practice the essential skills needed to dive safely and confidently.All training dives take place from our diving boat at beautiful coral reefs around Hurghada, giving you the opportunity to learn while exploring one of the most fascinating underwater environments in the world.
PADI OWD course schedule
Day 1
Your first day begins with completing the necessary paperwork and preparing your diving equipment.Before entering the water, your instructor will introduce you to the basic principles of scuba diving, explain how the equipment works, and go through all essential safety procedures.You will then begin your confined water training, where you will learn and practice the fundamental scuba skills required by PADI.These include breathing comfortably underwater, clearing water from your mask, recovering your regulator, buoyancy control, and many other essential diving techniques.After completing the required skills, you will enjoy your first underwater exploration of the beautiful coral reefs of the Red Sea.
Day 2
On the second day, you will continue building your confidence and improving the skills learned during the first day.During your training dives, you will complete additional PADI exercises, practice buoyancy control, and become increasingly comfortable underwater.Between the skills sessions, you will also have plenty of time to enjoy the incredible marine life, colorful coral reefs, and crystal-clear waters that make the Red Sea one of the world's top diving destinations.
Day 3
The final day of the course includes your remaining open water training dives and the completion of all practical skills required for certification. After successfully finishing the practical part of the course, you will complete the final knowledge assessment. Once all course requirements have been met, you will become a certified PADI Open Water Diver and receive an internationally recognized diving certification that allows you to dive all over the world.
Your Diving Certification
After successfully completing the course, you will be qualified to:
- dive with a certified buddy to a maximum depth of 18 metres,
- rent scuba equipment at dive centres around the world,
- join recreational diving trips,
- continue your diving education with advanced PADI courses.
The natural next step is the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course, which allows you to gain more experience, improve your diving skills, and extend your maximum recommended depth to 30 metres.
PADI eLearning
All of our PADI Open Water Diver courses are conducted using the official PADI eLearning system. After arriving in Hurghada, you will receive access to the official PADI online learning platform and all the required digital training materials.You can study the theory at your own pace, watch the instructional videos, complete the knowledge reviews, and finish the final exam online.This allows you to spend more time focusing on the practical part of the course — developing your diving skills and enjoying the spectacular underwater world of the Red Sea.The PADI eLearning fee and the cost of your official PADI certification are charged separately according to current PADI prices.
